In questo saggio si propone la lettura di uno dei racconti più famosi di Henry James, scritto nel 1906 e pubblicato nel 1908. The Jolly Corner è stato affrontato ripetutamente dalla critica ed è prediletto da molti scrittori, tra cui Italo Calvino che lo considerò a lungo un ideale di perfezione per chi voglia dedicarsi alla narrativa. Il protagonista è un ricco newyorkese che ha preferito alle seduzioni del dollaro quelle dell’arte europea, secondo uno schema che James riuscì a riproporre in vari testi senza mai apparire ridondante.References
