Il teatro sociale, o applied theatre, rappresenta una forma teatrale che utilizza l’arte come strumento didattico, di redenzione, di sostegno e a volte di cura, sostenendo, sostituendo, contrapponendosi o arricchendo il lavoro di ospedali, scuole, campi profughi, centri diurni, carceri e molte altre realtà al di fuori del teatro ufficiale. La caratteristica del teatro quale forma artistica viva, dialogica, capace di stimolare gli istinti più profondi e mettere in gioco le convinzioni più radicate, s colloca al centro nelle sessioni e negli spettacoli di un teatro che ha scelto di tornare all’essenza, di liberarsi del professionismo ma non della professionalità, per giocare ad essere altro.References
